Wilag
Wilag was a Swiss maker of tinplate railway models. Its range included Märklin replica passenger cars in Gauge I and a metal model of the Lake Geneva steamer La Suisse. The company also developed a live-steam Bavarian S 3/6 locomotive in Gauge I; production and assembly later involved other firms. Wilag is documented among Swiss railway-model makers active in the late 1960s and 1970s.

The story of Wilag
In the mid-to-late 1960s, Hans Willeboordse proposed making Märklin replica passenger cars under the Wilag name in Gauge I. Wilag also produced a metal model of the Lake Geneva steamer La Suisse, using an electric motor after a planned steam drive proved impractical. The company then undertook a live-steam version of the Bavarian S 3/6 in Gauge I, designed at 1:30 scale. The project ran into production and assembly difficulties. Spring AG took over assembly and entered the Gauge I live-steam market, while also taking over production of a Gauge 0 version. Wilag’s cars are described as selling well, but the S 3/6 project marked a transition in production beyond Wilag itself. Specialist railway-model listings place Wilag among Swiss Gauge 0 tinplate makers through the period ending around the late 1970s.
