Tomica is a Japanese brand of die-cast model cars produced by **Takara Tomy** (formerly Tomy). It is Japan’s leading small-scale model car brand, known for **1/64 scale** vehicles that emphasize realism, durability, and functionality.
Tomica models cover a wide range of vehicles, including Japanese and international cars, emergency vehicles, construction equipment, and buses. Many models feature working parts such as opening doors and suspension, making them popular among both collectors and children.
Tomica was launched in 1970 by Tomy as Japan’s answer to Matchbox and Hot Wheels. Initially, the brand focused on domestic Japanese vehicles, creating models based on real cars from Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and other major manufacturers.
Over the decades, Tomica expanded internationally, producing both standard die-cast cars and premium lines such as **Tomica Limited Vintage (TLV)** and **Tomica Premium**, which offer higher levels of detail.
