Tomica
Tomica is a Japanese line of palm-sized die-cast miniature cars, introduced by Tomy in 1970 and now issued by Takara Tomy. The story of Tomica
Tomy launched Tomica in 1970 as a series of palm-sized die-cast miniature cars based on vehicles made in Japan. Takara Tomy describes it as Japan’s first series of this kind. The maker’s historical archive traces the standard Tomica releases from the first car through 2014.
The range later added collector-oriented formats. In 2001, Tomica introduced a high-detail collection model line; in 2002, the Tomica Limited range added larger S-Series models. Tomica is now a Takara Tomy brand, and the company continues to list it among its Japanese product brands.
