Tippco
Description
Tippco (Tin Plate Products Company) was a German manufacturer of tinplate toys, specializing in cars, military vehicles, motorcycles, and trains. Known for their high-quality lithographed tin models, Tippco was one of the leading toy producers in pre-war Germany.
The company produced a wide range of clockwork and wind-up vehicles, with a strong focus on realism and mechanical features. Their models were popular across Europe and are now highly collectible due to their craftsmanship and historical significance.
Founded in 1912 in Nuremberg, Tippco became one of Germany’s premier tin toy manufacturers. During the 1930s and 1940s, the company produced military-themed toys, including tanks, staff cars, and aircraft, some of which were used for propaganda during World War II.
After the war, Tippco attempted to resume production but faced restrictions due to its wartime affiliations. The company struggled to compete with emerging plastic toy manufacturers in the 1950s and eventually ceased operations. Today, original Tippco toys are highly valued by collectors, with rare models commanding high prices at auctions.
