Spot-On
Description
Spot-On is a British toy brand, widely recognized for its exquisite range of diecast model vehicles. The brand elicits nostalgia among enthusiasts and collectors, known for its accuracy in scaling and commitment to automotive detailing. It's most famous production line features miniature models of 196s British vehicles, capturing the essence of vehicular design during that era, a prized collection for any vintage toy enthusiast. Offering a microcosm of British automotive history, Spot-On models bear the charm that instantly transports one to the golden era of the 196s.
Spot-On was launched in 1959 under the banner of Tri-ang, a British toy manufacturing company. Its creation was an attempt to compete with Dinky and Corgi toys. Spot-On made a name for itself by maintaining a strict 1:42 scale across all models, an attribute distinctive and unique in the world of diecast modelling. An interesting fact is that while most of the Spot-On line consists of British makes and models, there are a few exceptions such as the Morris Mini-Minor which was based on the German DKW Junior car. Tri-ang eventually merged with Lines Brothers Ltd. While the Spot-On brand ceased production after the demise of Lines Brothers Ltd in 1971, their models continue to be sought-after collectables today.
