Alessandro Rossi and Antonio Riva founded Rivarossi in 1945 in Como, Italy. Starting with a modest selection of HO scale trains, the brand gradually expanded its operation, garnering international recognition for its precision models. The brand's mantra for high detail and quality saw rapid acceptance among enthusiasts. An interesting tidbit of Rivarossi's history is Rossi’s acquirement of several other model train companies including Jouef, Lima, and Arnold, a testimony to its ongoing ambition of innovation and progression. Unfortunately, the brand confronted financial difficulties in 2002, leading to its closure. However, the legacy of Rivarossi still thrives, thanks to Hornby, who acquired the molds and has continued to bring Rivarossi’s supreme models to market.
