Pilot
Description
Pilot Corporation, not to be confused with other brands of the same name, is a global brand that creates stationery and writing instruments, including items often seen in every day, professional and educational settings such as pencils, pens, markers and more. Their products are known for their high quality, functionality yet they also understand the importance of design and aesthetics. Besides the more practical side of their assortment, they also create fun and interactive designs to engage younger audiences and those who are young at heart.
Pilot Corporation was founded in Japan in 1918 by Ryosuke Namiki and Masao Wada, originally named Namiki Manufacturing Company. It was the first company in Japan to mass-produce fountain pens. In 1938, the company changed its name to Pilot Pen Company, recognizing that they had expanded into a wider range of writing instruments. A fun fact is that in 1954, Pilot Corporation introduced the "Capless," a new type of fountain pen with a retractable nib and no cap, which brought them into the international limelight. It has expanded its operations globally and now boasts a wide range of writing instruments that are core to both educational and professional settings around the world.
