The Penn Line Manufacturing Co. was founded in 1946 by Albert U. Pflumm in Boyertown, Pennsylvania. Starting with advanced welding and metal fabricating techniques, the company swerved into the hobby industry with engines and cars of the Reading and Pennsylvania Railroads. An interesting fact about Penn Line is that it was the first American model train company to introduce Multi-Control transformers that could independently control two trains at once, a revolutionary concept at the time. The company saw various changes in ownership and underwent financial instability until it ultimately ceased operations in 1963, but its models continue to be admired and sought after by collectors till date.
