Novo Toys was a well-renowned, Soviet-era toy brand known for their extensive catalog of miniature toy models. Novo Toys carved out a unique niche for itself with its niche genre of historical and military-themed miniature models, locally produced and passionately assembled.
The fascinating history of Novo Toys takes us back to the early stages of the Cold War era. In 1970, the Soviet Union purchased the moulds of various British toy models as part of a cultural import program. Based in the city of Donetsk, Ukraine, the company primarily specialized in repurposing these molds and producing locally built, high-quality miniature models. The models were then sold not only domestically but were also exported to the United Kingdom, West Germany, and other European countries. Today, these Novo Toys models hold a special place in the hearts of vintage toy collectors, representing an interesting intersection of historical, cultural, and political narratives.
