Mehanotehnika Tempo was a Yugoslavian toy manufacturer known for producing model trains, plastic construction sets, and slot cars. The company was a major toy producer in Eastern Europe, offering affordable yet well-detailed models that appealed to both children and collectors.

Their **HO scale** model trains were among their most popular products, featuring locomotives and rolling stock based on European railroads. The company later expanded into remote-controlled vehicles and electronic toys under the **Tempo** product line.

Founded in **1952** in Izola, Slovenia (then part of Yugoslavia), Mehanotehnika quickly became one of the largest toy manufacturers in the region. The company gained international recognition by exporting model trains and slot cars across Europe.

In the **1990s**, following the breakup of Yugoslavia, Mehanotehnika rebranded as **Mehano** and shifted focus to more advanced model trains and educational toys. Despite facing financial difficulties, Mehano continues to operate today, with its products distributed in various international markets. Vintage Mehanotehnika Tempo models are now considered collectible.
