MBR

MBR (Modellbahnrevue) was a German specialist magazine for model railway enthusiasts, published by G. Schmidt Verlag. It developed from Modellbaurevue, a title in use by 1963 that included a model-railway section. The magazine published prototype and model features, technical drawings and discussions of railway subjects, with Horst Joachim Obermayer as its model-railway editor. Its run ended in early 1974; the title was a precursor to the later Eisenbahn Journal.

The story of MBR

Modellbahnrevue (MBR) was published by G. Schmidt Verlag, first in Knittlingen and later in Stuttgart. The title was preceded by Modellbaurevue, which by 1963 included a model-railway section. Horst Joachim Obermayer, a Stuttgart-based engineer and railway modeller, handled the magazine’s model-railway coverage from the beginning.

The magazine ceased publication in early 1974. In 1975, Hermann Merker’s M+F-Journal began publication; it was renamed Eisenbahn Journal in 1980. MBR was identified as its predecessor, and Obermayer joined the new publication’s editorial team. The M+F-Journal carried forward a connection to model-railway manufacturing through Merker and Fischer, but it was a separate publication under a different publisher.
