The story of Marque
Marque Models formed in 1975 at the former Levis motorcycle factory in Birmingham, beginning with pewter diecast model cars made mainly for the trade. The company released its first cars soon after its formation. Its classic car collection started in the mid-1980s with six test marketed models. The range grew from those initial cars, and the company described it as exceeding 150 models at the time its history was written.
Marque Models develops its cars from in-house master patterns, which it describes as sculpted from clay or cut from pewter, then uses its own tooling for production. It has also undertaken selected trade work and received commissions from automobile manufacturers to supply scale models of new vehicles. Companies House records Marque Models Limited as incorporated on 20 January 1975, initially under the name Mark Models Limited; that legal record documents the company’s corporate history alongside the maker’s account of its formation and products.
