Many of the toys produced under the Linemar label were marketed to the Japanese market making Louis Marx & Co. a forerunner in the wave of American manufacturers who very early saw the advantage of having products made in Japan. Interestingly, the word Linemar was a combination of Marx spelled backward and the suffix Line representing the parent company.
