LGB
Description
LGB, standing for Lehmann Gross Bahn or "Lehmann's Big Train", is a renowned brand that offers high-quality, scale model trains known for their exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail. The company specializes in producing G-gauge model trains, which are bigger and more robust than typical model railway items and can even be used outdoors. Notable for their sturdy construction and exceptional realism, LGB's model trains have cemented their place in the hearts and collections of train enthusiasts around the globe.
The journey of LGB began in 1881 in Brandenburg, Germany, with Ernst Paul Lehmann's establishment of a novel toy company. Initially making a variety of toys, the company ventured into model trains in 1968 with its G-gauge series, bringing a level of realism to model trains that was formerly unknown. This move not only reenergized the brand but also led to a broad resurgence in model train collecting. As memorable milestones, LGB was the first to introduce sound and smoke generators into model trains, greatly enhancing their lifelike appeal. Despite being hit by bankruptcy in 2006, the LGB brand was saved in 2007 when Mrklin, another German model train manufacturer, took over operations, preserving this iconic name in model train history.
