The origins of Kokyu trace back to the early 20th century in Japan, precisely in 1924. Established as Kokyu Shokai and christened after its founder, it was one of Japan's pioneers in tinplate toy production. The company thrived in the pre-war era with its detailed, brightly colored designs that capture the spirit of the eras car models. Intriguingly, the company also ventured into making tin badges during the war as a means to diversify. Surviving the war and returning to toy production, Kokyu diligently continued until it ceased operations in 1973. It was a span of half a century that saw the brand create some captivating toys that have withstood the test of time.
