The story of Katz
Henry Katz & Co. was a New York toy maker whose products were made of lithographed tin. The company operated briefly, with the Train Collectors Association's account dating its activity to 1928–1931. Its known output included mechanical toys, trains, airplanes and airships. The American Toy Collectors of America directory also records the company among New York manufacturers of the 1920s and 1930s.
Katz's train line included the Five Fifteen Limited, a deluxe model made in collaboration with Mattatuck Manufacturing Co. of Connecticut. The partnership placed Katz's trains within a wider network of American toy production, while the lithographed tin construction linked them to a material widely used by toy makers of the period.
