The story of Italeri
Italeri began in Bologna in 1962, founded by Giuliano Malservisi and Gian Pietro Parmeggiani. The company’s first commercial name was Italstamp. Its first kit, a 1:72 model of the Italian Fiat G.55 fighter, was marketed under the Aliplast name. After roughly a decade, the company adopted the name Italaerei, later shortened to Italeri.
The maker’s early focus on aircraft models grew into a broad static-model range. Its current catalogue covers aircraft, helicopters, military vehicles, ships, trucks, cars, motorcycles, figures and diorama accessories. Italeri reports acquiring tooling from Supermodel, Protar and ESCI. A 1972 photographic record documents Italeri models in aircraft and military-model subjects, and describes Ital Hobby as the company’s workshop and graphics section; Ital Hobby closed in 1991 while Italeri remained active at Calderara di Reno.
