The story of Heller & Schiller (Husch)
Heller & Schiller took over the tin-toy factory in Oberleutensdorf after its founder, Schlesinger, died. From 1925 they made mechanical trains and small spring-driven cars under the name HUSCH, among the early Czechoslovak producers of these toys. Their tinplate railway production included 0-gauge trains from 1930. The toy range also included small mechanical cars; examples of a saloon car and a racing model are dated 1932–1935.
In 1938 the owners, identified by the regional history as Jewish, were forced to leave the company’s management. Production continued under Kurt Schmidt & Co., which shifted mainly to military toys. The factory’s production ended in 1945.
