Effel

Effel was the name used for the Spur 0 model railway trains of the Paris firm BLZ after it passed into the sole ownership of Fernand L’Heure. The range included two electric locomotives, passenger and baggage coaches, and several goods wagons. One locomotive had a body made from two cast halves that also formed its motor housing. BLZ had first produced Spur 0 models and added H0 models in the late 1940s; its H0 sets were sold under the Scelle Belle name around 1950. Effel identified the firm’s Spur 0 trains.

The story of Effel

Effel's story began in 1945, emerging in the wake of World War II. It was founded in Paris, France, by toy enthusiast and visionary, François Leveillé. Leveillé saw the potential to bring joy and light into the lives of many during a time of recovery and rebuilding. In the years since, Effel has grown from its post-war beginnings into a brand recognized across generations of toy lovers. An interesting fact is that in its early years, Effel defied the odds, focusing on the production of detailed toys and models in an era defined by economic difficulties.
