Dahmer
Dahmer was a model railway manufacturer in Bernburg, East Germany. From 1960, Kurt Dahmer produced tinplate H0 gauge car transport wagons, first four-axle and then, from 1963, two-axle versions. The wagons were sold with miniature cars as loads, including EMW and Trabant models. Production of the wagons continued after the factory was nationalized in 1972 and the range was incorporated into VEB Plasticart’s Plauen product line from 1978.

The story of Dahmer
Kurt Dahmer’s Spielwarenfabrik in Bernburg made H0 model railway goods wagons. Production of tinplate car transporters began in 1960 with four-axle wagons; two-axle versions followed in 1963. The wagons were supplied with miniature cars, initially including EMW models and later predominantly Trabant 601s, depending on availability. The cars were made by other producers, rather than being Dahmer’s own vehicle models.
In 1972 the business was nationalized as VEB Spielwarenfabrik Bernburg. From 1978, its models appeared in the product range of VEB Plasticart’s Plauen works. The car transporter wagons were made until about 1982. The surviving product history documents this transition from a private Bernburg maker to state production and later integration into Plasticart’s range.
