Animate Toys
Animate Toy Company was an American maker of mechanical tinplate toys active from the mid-1910s through the late 1930s. Its ranges included clockwork and friction driven bugs, moths, snails, turtles and other animals, alongside tanks, tugboats, tractors, logging and roadbuilding equipment, and haymaking sets. A patented viscous mechanism slowed the clockwork movement of walking animals, while the large climbing tractor used a rubber caterpillar track to cross obstacles. Many of the smaller creature toys had brightly lithographed surfaces.
