The story of Aiguilleur
After France Trains stopped operating around 1981, its tools and machines passed to Tram, which produced some former France Trains models before disappearing a few months later. Nadia Millet then opened L’Aiguilleur, a railway shop on rue Merlin in Paris, with a workshop in Seine-et-Marne for building, painting, decorating and repairing models in different scales. The business also managed remaining France Trains stock and detailed commercial models.
L’Aiguilleur’s work included decorated railway vehicles in series of 50 to 500. Model Loco in England produced the Forquenot, Polonceau and 2C2 Midi models from L’Aiguilleur’s designs. The range also included Midi coaches and Renault ABJ railcars, offered as kits or assembled models, alongside a substantial spare-parts catalogue. The shop closed on 31 December 1993. L’Aiguilleur later sold off Trains Rousseau stock, but lacked the tooling to continue those models.
