Synonymous for metal construction sets is MECCANO. Several other manufacturers do have, however, produced some equivalents. Far less common and quite an outsider is BRAL (Italy). During the 1950s this manufacturer produced several construction sets of airplanes. The type of nuts and bolts is in fact the same as the British ones ... luckily if you are missing some.
