The Citroën Dyane was newer, but the 2CV outlived it
About this itemDinky Toys diecast car scale 1/43 Citroën Dyane #1413The Dyane arrived in 1967 as a more modern and practical development of the Citroën 2CV. It was intended to gradually replace the older car, yet the 2CV remained in production until July 1990. Dyane production had ended in 1983.
The new body brought a useful rear hatch while retaining a large fabric roof. Its opening mechanism could be operated from inside the car. Citroën credits the sharper body design to Louis Bionier.
Dinky’s French model no. 1413 records that shape in miniature. Our museum example has pale bodywork, bright red seats and a contrasting roof panel. The angled rear side windows and upright tail give the Dyane a profile quite distinct from the rounded 2CV.
