Porsche’s Carrera 6: a thin skin over a racing frame
About this itemCorgi Toys diecast car scale 1/43 Porsche Carrera 6 #330The Porsche 906, better known as the Carrera 6, won the Targa Florio in 1966. Its low body concealed a lightweight tubular frame wrapped in thin glass-fibre panels.
During the restoration of a surviving Carrera 6, the Revs Institute described panels so slight that a flashlight beam could be seen through them. Uneven gaps and ripples in the body reflected both its construction and its later racing life.
Corgi modelled the Carrera 6 as no. 330 in diecast metal. Our museum example has a white body, red panels carrying number 60, a clear cockpit canopy and a blue rear cover.
