Rail-Mo

Rai-Mo was a German small-series model railway maker based in Fürstenfeldbruck near Munich. Its range included kits for historic German locomotives, railcars and rolling stock in H0 and 0 gauges. Some powered models were motorised, while others were static display models. The programme drew on earlier tooling, including the Prussian T 3 and Pola Maxi 0-gauge models, and focused on railway vehicles rather than layout accessories.

The story of Rail-Mo

Rai-Mo was a German small-series model railway manufacturer in Fürstenfeldbruck near Munich. Its range included kits for historic German railway vehicles in H0 and 0 gauges. The selection covered locomotives such as the Prussian T 3, Bavarian PtL 2/2 and ML 2/2, as well as railcars, passenger coaches and goods wagons. Some traction models were motorised; others were intended as static models.

The maker followed Merker und Fischer. Rai-Mo used inherited tooling, including moulds for the H0 Prussian T 3 associated with Trix and Röwa, and moulds for 0-gauge models from Pola Maxi. Rai-Mo production is listed as beginning in 1979. The Pola Maxi railway business had passed through Techno-Modell before continuing under the Rai-Mo name. Tooling was later acquired by Klein Modellbahn in Weinheim, and a separate specialist account describes subsequent appearances of some kits under Billerbahn and EMA. The precise end of Rai-Mo as a maker is unclear in the available accounts.
