Maker record

Temsi

Temsi was a Dutch maker of metal construction sets similar to Meccano. Its sets used steel components and included beams, gears, axles, nuts and bolts for building mechanical models. The system used metric M4 threads and a hole spacing of 12.7 mm, although its long parts were only partly compatible with Meccano. Surviving instructions and price lists document a range of sets, including the Speelboom and numbered sets 0 to 5.

The story of Temsi

Temsi made metal construction sets in the Netherlands. Its Meccano-like system used steel parts with a 12.7 mm hole spacing and M4 threads. The range included numbered sets and a Speelboom set; manuals, price lists and an advertising leaflet dated January 1985 are preserved in a specialist construction-set archive. A 2021 account of set 5 Master records 460 parts, including 110 screws and nuts, packed in a three-layer cardboard box with plastic trays.

The maker is associated with Hengelo. A specialist database lists Temsi M.V. at Breemarsweg 213 and records that from 1987 the manufacturer or distributor was Temsi Konstructie Speelgoek BV at Beitelstraat 32. Temsi construction sets are no longer manufactured, according to the 2021 account; the exact end date is disputed in specialist references.
