Himalya Toys Shell tanker
This tinplate Shell tank car, fitted with plastic wheels and a clockwork mechanisme driving the rear axle, carries on the rear the legend Himalya Toys, with what looks like a goose above it and the letters TH in a circle below it. On the bumper it carries the number 786 and on the rear of the tank the number 1980, which may refer to the year of production. The car is 21 cm long, 8 cm wide and 8 cm high. The legend ‘Burmah Shell’ on the sides refers to the Indian-based oil company, which was nationalised in 1975 by the Indian government. Himalya Toys is or was an Indian (or possibly Nepalese) toy factory. If anybody knows more about this make, we would love to hear it!
