Varney
Description
Varney Scale Models was a US-based model train manufacturing company that specialized in producing HO and O gauge model locomotives and railcars. Their products painted a picture of the classic American railroad scene in miniature form, winning the hearts of model train enthusiasts all over the world. Varneys products were known for detailing and scale fidelity, uniting an enthusiast’s love for trains and creative expression on a smaller scale.
Varney Scale Models was launched by Gordon Varney in 1936 in Chicago, Illinois. Varney, himself a model enthusiast, saw an untraveled path in the toy industry and began producing model trains. In the mini-world of model trains, Varney was considered a pioneer, credited for having introduced the first affordable, ready-to-run HO scale train in 1936. Varney later relocated his business to Miami, Florida in 195. After this move, the company continued to expand, producing more variants of locomotives and trains until 196, when Varney sold the company and it became Life-Like Products.
