The story of Ralstoy
Ralston Toy and Novelty Company, trading as Ralstoy, was formed in 1939 by Dr Felix Despecher and initially used tooling from Best Toy and Novelty Co. and Kansas Toy and Novelty Co. to make slush toys. After Despecher's death, Paul Massey took over the business. Wartime shortages led to a shift to wooden toys.
After the Second World War, Ralstoy returned to metal toys. The company assembled, painted and decorated cast metal models, while subcontractors handled die casting. In 1957, Paul Massey's son Art took over. The company's later output consisted of promotional toy trucks. Ralstoy products included branded vans and tractor-trailer models; 1950s examples featured different trucking companies and were also used in dealer advertising.
