Fabrik für elektro-mechanische Modell-Eisenbahnen Heinz Reinhardt (Reinhardt)
Description
Production of 0 gauge scale construction sets
In June 1947 the firm of Heinz Reinhardt from Berlin announced an ambitious program: proposed were construction sets of a 4-6-2 express locomotive based on the German Baureihe 03, a dining car with interior, a bagage car, a set with which to build ca. 20 mtrs of 3-rail track including two switches and a set with a transformer, switches and other electrical parts. Deliveries were expected to take place from autumn 1947, but before that, Reinhardt issued a press statement, saying that due to pressure of work and power rationing, no deliveries would be made for at least 2 or 3 months. In the event, the loco never came, but the dining car and bagage car were produced,
Unfortunately the castings, of which there were many in the model, were of mazac and suffered from zinc pest.
Reinhardt aimed at the scale model market of the time: the bagage car measures 45 cm and the dining car tops that at an impressive 53 cm. As far as is known, production didn’t last very long into 1948.
