Maker record

Adnot & Sennedot (AS)

AS (Adnot & Sennedot) was a French maker of model railway trains. Its range began in the early 1980s with 0-gauge tinplate trains, including Paris Metro sets, locomotives and passenger coaches. The sheet-metal bodies were lithographed, and the locomotives were made with or without motors. The range later expanded to H0 models, including Renault ABJ and Standard railcars, unified trailers and Talbot suburban trains. Production was undertaken by L’Emboutissage, a Paris metalworking firm founded by Pierre Adnot and René Sennedot.

The story of Adnot & Sennedot (AS)

L’Emboutissage was established in Paris in 1962 by Pierre Adnot and René Sennedot, both formerly employed by Panhard, to make parts for the automobile industry. The firm later entered the model railway market, drawing on its metalworking facilities to produce the AS range. According to specialist accounts, the range began around 1981 or, more broadly, in the early 1980s. Its 0-gauge products included lithographed tinplate locomotives, passenger coaches and Paris Metro trains. The coaches represented French railway companies including PLM and Est, as well as CIWL. Metro train versions included Sprague and Nord-Sud types; locomotives were offered both with and without motors.

AS expanded into H0 models, including Renault ABJ and Standard railcars, unified trailers and Talbot suburban trains. The range also included small-run coach series. L’Emboutissage ceased activity in 1993, although some 0-gauge production continued for a time. A separate account reports that the AS brand disappeared in 1993. The available histories therefore document the firm’s cessation and continued production after it, while treating the brand’s end date less consistently.
