LS was originally established in 1924 as Aoshima Bungu Co Ltd in Shizuoka, Japan by Jiro Aoshima. Initially, the company started with producing wooden model teaching aids. In 1961, they decided to enter the plastic model business and by 1969, the LS division was set up as a subsidiary to focus solely on producing plastic models. LS became famous in the model kit industry for the proficiency and accuracy in their products. Following the trendsetters, LS launched their first motorized image model and quickly diversified the range. The models produced by LS are now rare collectors items, bringing back the nostalgic days of accurate modelling in the era before everything went digital.
